Jambo to all. It has
been a very busy and at times trying past few months --- I have recently been
spending a lot of time at the Meru children’s home in Meru. It is an orphanage that is the home for over
60 children ranging from 1 month to 17 years of age. It is truly a joy
working there and with Sister Anselima who is in charge of the orphanage.
The amount of work involved is incredible, but what I can mostly do for them is
give the children my love and attention. I have realized that is the most
important thing they need.
I am at this present time on a retreat at a Franciscan Retreat
Center in Meru. I really need this time
to rest, pray and take care of myself. I just recently got over my 4th
bout of malaria. There is a recent outbreak of malaria here in Meru and
it seems as though everyone has it, including many of the children.
I have been so stressed out recently and realize that I need
to take care of myself or I will be of no use to anyone here. I am sorry
this is so short, but I promise to write more later.
Please continue to keep me in your prayers and continue to
support Lay Mission-Helpers.
Love to all,
Kathleen (Mekena)
